Bar - 114 Cuba Mall

A heady mix of modern minimalism and seductive oriental charm, this
subterranean vault, hidden in the depths of Cuba Mall evokes the
underworld mystique of an opium den. Darkly exotic the interior glows
with candlelight, drawing patrons towards the central bar, like a
Chinese lantern in the black of night. This site remembers the Chinese
immigrants, long-settled Wellington’s Te Aro district…traditionally a
seedy, underground quarter of the inner city.

An intoxicating space; a late night haunt, brimming with dancing
bodies, the ‘underground elite’, and live music till the early hours.
Playful connections are made through the bar’s openings, which serve to
frame the staff, presented amongst a glowing selection of imported
goods.
